The US Missile Defense Agency is developing a concept to protect the country and allies from hypersonic weapons. Experts have demonstrated how it will work.
A multi-layered solution will be used for protection. In the video, the Americans showed the detection, tracking and interception of a gliding hypersonic unit of an enemy missile. The video simulated the situation of an attack on one of the American aircraft carriers. Space assets were able to track a hypersonic missile. The unit was intercepted by a destroyer with the Aegis combat system.
Earlier it became known that Russia wants to equip the S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system with new anti-missiles. They will be able to intercept hypersonic aircraft. The modernized 53T6M can act as an anti-missile, but this is still unconfirmed information. In general, Prometheus will be able to shoot down even satellites in low orbit.
