The American edition of the National Interest commented on the rearmament of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) with new fifth-generation Su-57 fighters.
An American military observer said that the new aircraft would not pose a real threat to the United States and other NATO countries. He believes that the number of Su-57s in the Russian troops will not be enough to withstand the American F-35 fighters.
“The Russian military will not operate a sufficient number of aircraft to pose any real threat to US and NATO aviation, unless production is significantly increased,” the Voennoye Obozreniye columnist quotes. According to available information, the Russian Aerospace Forces will receive 76 Su-57s.
The observer also noted that the United States has 1,763 fifth-generation fighters in service.
