Two-time Russian champion and former defender of the Russian national football team Dmitry Sennikov called the advantages of the national team in the play-off match in the selection for the 2022 World Cup with Poland. He told TASS about this.
“The chances of the Russian national team have increased. Changing your opponent's coach is always beneficial. They have very little time to change or change something, ”Sennikov said. He noted that it will depend on the entire Polish team how quickly they can rebuild.
“The Russian national team already has a certain teamwork, the coaching staff is stable, we play at home, so I think that this is in our favor,” Sennikov said. He stressed that the Polish team is roughly equal in strength to the Russian one.
On December 29, the head coach of the Polish national team, Paulo Sousa, resigned. At the moment, no one has been appointed to the position.
In the semifinal match, the Russian national team and the Polish national team will meet at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow. If successful, the Russian team will compete for reaching the final of the World Cup in a confrontation with the winner of the Sweden – Czech Republic pair.
