Those who have had COVID-19 can increase their antibody levels upon contact with a sick person. This opinion was expressed by Vitaly Zverev, a virologist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, scientific director of the Mechnikov Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums. His words are quoted by “Parlamentskaya Gazeta”.

In his opinion, the so-called “cellular immunity” sometimes works. In this case, the cells are ejected

the required amount of antibodies to protect the body from infection. The academician said that he himself had a coronavirus in May last year, and in winter there were no antibodies left. However, after he had to care for a patient with COVID-19, the level of antibodies rose sevenfold.

“Therefore, I do not believe in repeated cases of coronavirus disease – there is, apparently, something with the diagnosis. If there were repeated cases, they would not be counted in units, which are periodically reported, but, taking into account the number of people who have had illnesses in the world, in tens of millions or millions, for sure, ”said the virologist.

Zverev also emphasized that before getting vaccinated, you need to be examined by a doctor. It is dangerous to vaccinate with a runny nose or sore throat.

Earlier, Vitaly Zverev said that there is nothing extraordinary in the first case of infection with the Delta Plus coronavirus strain in Russia, as the virus is changing. The spread of the virus depends to a large extent on the conditions that are created for this, to what extent people comply with the established rules – social distance, masks in transport.
