Rapid Vienna had tricky opponents drawn in the group stage of the Europa League. A sporting challenge awaits on green and white.
The Hütteldorfer face the Croatian representative Dinamo Zagreb, the current English leader West Ham United and KRC Genk from Belgium in Group H. An attractive group in which the green-whites are not without a chance.
“From the name it's an attractive group. With Dinamo we have the strongest team from Croatia in the group, which has always been represented internationally in recent years. We have had to play Genk one or the other time. And West Ham is an attractive opponent, “said Rapid Sports Director Zoran Barisic from the Rapid Group.
“In terms of sport, the challenge is certainly there. I think that the players can develop well there,” said the green and white sports boss with a view to the prominent opponents. “The I-Pünktchen is such an international competition. You can show yourself there, it is in the focus of the public,” the 55-year-old continues.
A place in the top two would mean the round of 16, third place leaves the chance to continue in a play-off game in the Conference League. Nevertheless, the green and white boss didn't want to be carried away by an announcement. “We go in there so that we get our maximum on every point,” concluded Barisic.
