Jeff Bezos is undefeated as the richest man in the world. Elon Musk is hot on his heels.
The richest man in the world: Jeff Bezos
The big winners in the corona crisis are Amazon boss Jeff Bezos and Tesla co-founder Elon Musk. In 2020, the entrepreneurs significantly increased their wealth – Musk has even mutated into the second richest man in the world. According to Bloomberg, its net worth rose by over $ 140 billion in the past year. With his net worth of $ 167 billion, he pushed Bill Gates into third place.
Jeff Bezos, however, ranks unbeaten in first place despite an expensive divorce. His fortune amounts to 192 billion dollars. The reason for Bezos growth of 75.4 billion dollars is the successful Amazon share. Not only online trading via the platform during the pandemic increased sales and profits, but also in-house products such as Prime and Kindle.
After Apple, which has a market value of 2.27 trillion US dollars, Amazon is the second most valuable US company with 1.65 trillion dollars.
Warren Buffett loses
Microsoft shares also rose 41 percent and their value by $ 480 billion. Google parent Alphabet, however, was able to post an increase of 268 billion dollars. Facebook is also worth $ 193 billion more than it was in early 2020.
The big loser among the super-rich is Warren Buffett. The US major investor has seen its wealth fall by $ 2.3 billion, pushing it to sixth place. Before him, the French Bernard Arnault is the only non-American, followed by Mark Zuckerberg in 5th place.
