The Thai government has suspended the Test & Go tourist entry system and all Sandbox programs (with the exception of Phuket) due to the spread of the new omicron strain of the coronavirus. This is reported by Thai PBS World on Twitter.
As noted by the Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-Ocha, restrictions are introduced from December 21 to at least January 4. However, tourists who have already booked a trip to the kingdom under these programs before January 10 can still enter the country. At the same time, it was clarified that such travelers will have to undergo a second PCR test on the seventh day of their vacation.
The “Phuket Sandbox” program, according to which vaccinated Russians can enter the country, will continue to work as usual. Thailand can also be visited by those who decide to go to quarantine. However, all travelers will be required to undergo additional PCR testing.
Antique restrictions for foreign tourists were changed in Thailand earlier in December. So, after December 16, all travelers arriving at the resort under the Sandbox program are required to stay in SHA + hotels for the first seven days instead of five. It is noted that due to the new rules, vacations will become more expensive.
