Bad weather and winter conditions could complicate the flight of the Mi-2 helicopter, which crashed on December 27 in Udmurtia, said the honored test pilot of the USSR Viktor Zabolotsky, Izvestia writes.
According to him, winter leaves an “imprint” and affects flights. Actual visibility deteriorates, loss of orientation is possible. “There may be various refusals. There may be a vortex ring. Because if they got stuck somewhere and lost their spatial position, they could simply not cope with the control, ”he said.
The 1992 Mi-2 helicopters were discontinued, the specialist noted. The aircraft is not used by government agencies, the helicopter is found only in the private aviation sector. It is used to monitor power lines, gas pipelines, and so on. “Therefore, people fly out or get into difficult weather conditions. Icing is unlikely. There, in my opinion, it was minus 10-11 degrees, ”Zabolotsky specified. The pilot urged to wait for the conclusions of the examination.
On Monday, December 27, the Mi-2 made a hard landing 80 kilometers from Izhevsk. According to preliminary information, before the loss of communication, the crew reported an emergency. One of the crew members died, the other is in serious condition.
