American auto giant General Motors (manufactures Cadillac, Chevrolet and Buick) has found a way to make conventional cars with internal combustion engines (ICE) safe for the planet. One of Tesla's main competitors has created devices for converting ordinary cars into electric cars. This was reported on the company's website.
For the first time an electric motor for installation in traditional cars was announced in November by Ford Motor. However, in the case of General Motors (GM), it will be possible to make environmentally friendly not only cars, but also water transport and special equipment. It will be possible to replace the internal combustion engine with a fully electric engine or a hybrid one with hydrogen fuel cells.
GM expects the market for components for converting vehicles to electric traction by 2030 to grow to $ 20 billion (about 1.4 trillion rubles) amid the desire of industrial sectors to reduce their carbon footprint. Until 2025, the corporation plans to invest $ 35 billion in the production of electric vehicles and related components. The program for the conversion of conventional cars to electric should start working in 2022.
In the US, electric cars have been called the main weapon in the fight against global warming. This opinion is shared by the majority of 103 US officials surveyed. In the recently adopted infrastructure development bill, about $ 7.5 billion was allocated for the installation of charging stations. By 2030, the country plans to create 500 thousand public stations.
