Elon Musk is proud on Twitter. Despite the restrictions caused by the pandemic, the company is reporting record numbers.
Tesla narrowly missed Elon Musk's self-set goal of delivering at least 500,000 vehicles in 2020. A total of 499,550 cars were delivered and 509,737 were produced. However, the numbers could still be corrected upwards, as Tesla gives fluctuations of 0.5 percent in a statement.
Nevertheless, Musk congratulated his employees on their success on Twitter. “I'm so proud of the Tesla team that they have reached this major milestone! When I started Tesla, I thought we had an (optimistic) 10 percent chance of surviving at all,” writes the Tesla CEO.

Constant increase
Despite the restrictions caused by the corona pandemic, 2020 was a good year for electric mobility. At Tesla, this made itself felt with strong quarterly figures and a rising share. The fact that the target of 500,000 deliveries was not achieved is mainly due to the temporary closings of the factories in Shanghai, China, and Fremont in the US state of California. They were silent for several weeks because of the corona virus.
Tesla increased its production and delivery figures every quarter over the year. 88,400 vehicles were delivered in the first quarter and 90,650 in the second quarter. In the third quarter, 139,300 vehicles were delivered and in the fourth the number rose again to 180,570. The Model 3 and Model Y were particularly popular with 442,511 deliveries.

Chief designer delivers vehicles
In order to still reach the mark of 500,000 deliveries, Musk had encouraged his employees in an email. Electrek reported. Chief designer Franz von Holzhausen also personally participated in the deliveries. The official figures, which will be published in January, will show whether the intended goal was achieved.
