Tesla has currently paused production of its Model S and Model X. Rumor has it that the longer stop could be related to a design change. Now YouTuber The Kilowatts has discovered a Model S prototype that is fueling these rumors. The vehicle was in Palo Alto, where the Tesla headquarters are located.

Less Chrome

The vehicle has a wider body and a new rear diffuser that is more reminiscent of the Model Y. The chrome-plated moldings were largely dispensed with.

The taillights have also received an update and the tires could also be new. According to Electrek, however, they are very similar to Tesla's arachnid tires. Little has changed in the front, the headlights have been slightly redesigned.

Plaid or new design

Since the vehicle has a special manufacturer's license plate (Manufacturing Plate, “MFG”), it is not a modified car. Such signs are used to test prototypes, for example.

It is still unclear whether it is a revised version of the Model S or a new prototype of the Model S Plaid, which is to come on the market in 2021. The high-performance Model-S should accelerate from 0 to 100 in 2.1 seconds and have a range of 840 kilometers.
