Tesla is expected to recall 158,000 vehicles

The US federal road and vehicle safety agency (NHTSA) has asked the automaker Tesla to recall tens of thousands of vehicles. The reason is an error in the infotainment unit (media control unit), which represents a security risk, as the authority announced on Wednesday (local time). 158,000 cars in the Model S and Model X series are affected.

The safety agency sent the request in a formal letter to the electric car pioneer Tesla after initiating a safety investigation in November. The NHTSA said the problem could result in loss of image from the reversing camera and reduced rearward visibility when reversing. The autopilot driver assistance system is also affected.
