In 2022, state tests of the Coalition-SV self-propelled artillery unit (ACS) will begin in Russia. Testing of the machine is planned to be completed by the fall. The timing is reported by Izvestia, citing sources in the Russian Defense Ministry.
The interlocutors of the publication noted that the ministry approved a plan for state tests of the ACS, which they plan to complete by September 30, 2022. After the tests, the state commission will prepare documents on the completion of experimental design work (ROC). This will allow the Ministry of Defense to create an order on the acceptance of the vehicle into service. ACS “Coalition-SV” can be accepted for equipment until December 2022.
The publication reminds that in November the Ministry of Defense announced the beginning of the preparation of the “Coalition-SV” for state tests. As part of this work, a transport-loading vehicle for the ACS was created, which passed state tests.
At the heart of the ACS “Coalition-SV” is the chassis of the T-90 tank. The vehicle received a 152 mm caliber 2A88 howitzer. The gun was equipped with a barrel cooling system, which protects the ACS from overheating during intense firing. The chrome-plated bore and active-reactive ammunition determine the firing range of up to 70-80 kilometers.
Earlier, the head of the missile forces and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mikhail Matveyevsky, spoke about the new high-precision ammunition for the Coalition-SV self-propelled guns. The projectile will operate on the “fire and forget” principle.
