On Friday, January 5, a fire engulfed four carriages of the Benapall Express bound for Dhaka. As a result, 8 people were injured. On Saturday, police said unknown arsonists also attacked at least five primary schools, including four voting booths, in the northeast.
The opposition blamed the ruling party for the arson. As is known, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is boycotting the general elections for the second time, calling Sunday's vote a sham power grab by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“The investigation is ongoing, but it appears the train was deliberately set on fire,” railway police spokesman Ferdous Ahmed said.
Earlier, an explosion occurred at an oxygen plant in Bangladesh, there were casualties.
