Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev said what he did with the BMW X5 car, presented to him for the gold medal of the 2020 Olympic Games. The athlete revealed the fate of the car donated for the gold in the Olympics to Izvestia.
The athlete said that he gave the car to his father. “Whether he sold it or kept it for himself, I don’t know,” he added. Rublev stressed that the Olympic Games for him are competitions outside tennis, since for them he does not receive either money or points, while they allow him to get the love of fans.
Rublev, 24, is ranked fifth in the world ranking of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP). He has eight victories in tournaments under the auspices of the organization. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo, he won a gold medal in mixed doubles with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. As part of the Russian national team, Rublev won the 2021 Davis Cup.
In October, Olympic synchronized swimming champion Vlada Chigireva spoke about plans for BMW cars presented to her for the gold medals of the 2016 and 2020 Games. The athlete said that she was going to sell one car, as there would be too much tax on both cars.
