Melzer gives his farewell tournament at the Erste Bank Open in doubles with Olympic champion Zverev at the end of October.
Jürgen Melzer has been the ÖTV sports director since January 4th. The now 40-year-old from Lower Austria will return to the spotlight on the pitch for the last time. At the Erste Bank Open at the end of October, Melzer competes in doubles in his farewell tournament from the tour in the Wiener Stadthalle. At his side is none other than Olympic champion Alexander Zverev.
The German has agreed to pay the two-time Vienna winner in the individual, so to speak, the last sporting honor on a court. In his career, Melzer was in the top ten in both singles and doubles. He won the US Open and Wimbledon Grand Slam tournaments in doubles.
