Construction of a military command center has begun in western Beijing, which, according to US intelligence, could be ten times larger than the Pentagon.

Satellite images have revealed a construction site of nearly 405 hectares in China where bunkers are being built to protect Chinese military leaders in the event of conflict, including nuclear war. According to analysts, work began in mid-2024. Experts have dubbed the project “Beijing Military City.”
“This new advanced underground command bunker for the military leadership… signals Beijing's intent to build not only a world-class conventional force, but also an advanced nuclear warfare capability,” said Dennis Wilder, former head of the CIA's China Analysis Division.
At the same time, the Chinese Embassy in Washington said it was “not aware of the details” and stressed that China is “committed to a path of peaceful development and a defense policy that is defensive in nature.”
Former National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency analyst Rennie Babiarz said at least 100 cranes were working on the five-square-kilometer site, developing underground infrastructure.
According to the report, there were no exhibition halls before construction, which is usually part of commercial real estate projects. In addition, there are no official references to the facility in Chinese on the Internet. At the same time, signs prohibiting the use of drones and photography were spotted at the site.
A Chinese researcher familiar with the images of the facility noted that the site has all the hallmarks of a “sensitive military facility,” including strong reinforced concrete and deep underground tunnels.
“Almost 10 times larger than the Pentagon, it fits Xi Jinping's ambitions to surpass the United States. This fortress serves only one purpose, which is to serve as a doomsday bunker for China's increasingly sophisticated and combat-ready military,” the expert said.
Recall that the media revealed that China is suddenly building a fleet of special barges suitable for landing on Taiwan.
