Tehran explains attack on Israeli hospital: Iranian Foreign Ministry statement

Iran says the strike hit a military center near Israel's Soroka hospital.

Iran strikes Israel

Iran has made a statement about a recent strike in the Israeli city of Beersheba that reportedly hit the Soroka hospital. While Israel accuses Tehran of directly hitting the hospital, the Iranian side claims that the target was a nearby military command center and that the hospital suffered only “superficial damage” from the “blast wave.”

Sky News reports this.

Disagreements in versions and accusations

The strike on Beersheba, which took place during an Iranian night attack, has sparked heated debate.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took to social media to claim that only “a small part of the mostly evacuated” facility, which he claimed is used primarily to treat Israeli soldiers, was damaged.

“It is the Israeli regime, not Iran, that started all this bloodshed, and it is the Israeli war criminals, not the Iranians, who are attacking hospitals and civilians,” Abbas Araghchi added.

He also said that “hundreds of innocent Iranians have been killed in cold blood since Israel launched its illegal war against the Iranian people last week.”

Warnings and subsequent threats

The Iranian minister called on Israelis to “listen to our orders to evacuate” before the strikes and “avoid approaching military and intelligence facilities.”

“Our powerful armed forces will continue to crush the criminals who are attacking our people until they stop their criminal aggression against our nation and pay for it,” Araghchi concluded, emphasizing Tehran’s determination in retaliating.

Recall that Iran's supreme leader responded to possible US intervention in the war. Iran threatens to respond “decisively” to Washington's actions.
