The bill was rejected not on its merits, but due to a violation of procedure.
On the evening of January 17, Germany rejected the parliamentary proposal the CDU/CSU faction, which called on the federal government to supply Taurus missiles to Ukraine. Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Yegor Chernev explained the situation by saying that the bill was rejected due to a violation of the procedure and an attempt to use this for narrow party PR.
Egor Chernev reported this on the evening of January 17 on Facebook.
“I just contacted my friends from the Bundestag about the news that the German parliament allegedly refused to transfer Taurus missiles to us. Everything turned out to be simpler,” said Yegor Chernev.
According to him, the bill, which 178 people’s deputies voted for, and 485 were against, was a separate document of part of the opposition, which they wanted to put to a vote without the consent of others.
“The bill was rejected not on its merits, but because of a violation of procedure and an attempt to use this for narrow party PR. The plan to submit a common bill of all factions to the Bundestag remains in force,” Chernev explained. < /p>
He also added that the vote for the bill is expected to take place before February 22.
“So, preparations for the “assault” of Scholz’s office continue,” Chernev emphasized.
Earlier, the head of the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of Germany, Friedrich Merz, implored Chancellor Olaf Scholz to provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles, which, in his opinion, could destroy the Kerch Bridge.
Recall that President of the United States Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz talked about further support for Ukraine in the context of a full-scale war against the Russian Federation.
