Jeddah port

A tanker exploded off the coast of Saudi Arabia. Interfax writes about this with reference to the shipping company BW Group.

This happened in the area of the port of Jeddah. The tanker was sailing under the Singapore flag, there were 22 people on board – they were not injured. According to the BW Group, the explosion “could have leaked some oil.” The cause of the explosion was an “external source” – which one is not specified yet.

United Kingdom Maritime Trade has called on all vessels in the Jeddah area to exercise caution. An investigation into the incident has already begun.

In late November, a Greek tanker blew up off the coast of Saudi Arabia. The explosion occurred near the kingdom's border with Yemen in the Red Sea. According to sources, the ship was “attacked.” The British company suggested that the tanker was blown up by a mine.
