Talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz began in the Kremlin. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

The talks are taking place at the same long table where Putin's dialogue with French President Emmanuel Macron took place. Presumably, this was resorted to, since Scholz, like the leader of France, refused to undergo a Russian PCR test for coronavirus.

In a conversation with the Russian president, the German chancellor is expected to declare the unacceptability of a buildup of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine and warn of readiness to impose “painful sanctions” in the event of an invasion of the country.

On Monday, February 14, negotiations were held in Kiev between Scholz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Speaking to reporters, the German chancellor said that Germany continues to support Kiev and is firmly on its side. He also stressed that the Minsk agreements are the basis for negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
