Fighters of the radical Taliban (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) accidentally transferred hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Afghan embassy in Dushanbe. Eurasianet reports.
According to the newspaper, 800 thousand dollars were allocated by the government of former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani for the construction of a school for refugee children in Tajikistan. However, after the seizure of power in the republic by the Taliban, the transfer of money did not take place. At the same time, the amount was later mistakenly transferred to the Afghan diplomatic service.
Eurasianet writes that Taliban fighters have sent a request to Dushanbe demanding a refund. The Tajik side rejected it. “We have not built a school, but for four months now, teachers and embassy staff have been receiving salaries from these funds,” a source told the newspaper. According to him, all financial resources go to the needs of Afghan citizens.
Earlier, the Taliban declared that the United States was responsible for the crisis in the country and hoped for Washington's help in restoring the economy. They stressed that after the withdrawal of its troops, the American side promised to recognize the new command and control system in Afghanistan and to maintain a diplomatic mission there.
