Fighters of the radical Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in Russia ) hope that Russia will recognize the government they have formed in Afghanistan. This was stated by the official representative of the Taliban Zabiullah Mujahid, RIA Novosti reports.
“According to our expectations, this should have been done a long time ago, but now is still a good time to start the recognition process,” said a spokesman for the movement. He stressed that the Afghan population needs help and assistance.
Mujahid noted that Russia has a strong government, which has a good position in the international arena. According to him, Moscow can take advantage of this provision to increase aid to the people of Afghanistan.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov said that after the Taliban fighters came to power in Afghanistan, the security situation in the country did not collapse. He stressed that the Taliban also promised not to pose threats to third countries. At the same time, the diplomat expressed concern about the activities of terrorists.
