The multiple Olympic and World Cup medalist fell from a training device and broke both hands.
Wendy Holdener broke the navicular bones of both hands in an accident while training. As the Swiss Ski Association announced on Wednesday, the 28-year-old fell from a training device at the beginning of the week and suffered fractures on the carpal bones. She is out for several weeks.
Holdener does not need an operation, but misses the season opener in Sölden at the end of October. It remains to be seen whether she will be able to compete in Levi a month later, according to Swiss Ski.
Setback for @WendyHoldener in preparation for the season. The two-time combination world champion injured herself on both hands and has to take a break of several weeks.

“The two broken navicular bones on the wrists must be completely healed before a race is possible,” said team doctor Walter Frey. “With today's technology, especially in slalom, the wrist is exposed to great forces.”
Wendy Holdener is a two-time combined world champion and won gold (team), silver (slalom) and bronze (combination) at the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
