The Swedish Embassy denied information about the detention of a Swedish diplomat at an unauthorized rally in Moscow. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the diplomatic mission.
“The Swedish Embassy in Moscow strongly denies that the Swedish diplomat was detained in connection with the protests in Moscow,” the agency quotes the embassy's statement.
The fact that an employee of the Swedish diplomatic mission participated in an uncoordinated action was announced earlier by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. She stressed that the Russian authorities will investigate every such case.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry asked the American authorities to stop interfering in Moscow's internal affairs. The Foreign Ministry noted that the actions aimed at encouraging protests are part of the strategy of containing Russia.
