Work is currently underway to conclude an agreement that will provide the Swedish side with access to the necessary ammunition.
Sweden needs to purchase artillery ammunition, both for yourself and for the possibility of being sent to Ukraine. And the capacity of factories should increase.
Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson announced this, reports SVT Nyheter.
“We have good Archer installations, but they are irrelevant if there is no ammunition to fire,” he said.
According to the minister defense, Sweden should support Ukraine with artillery ammunition and increase its own reserves. He called it a difficult situation.
Work is currently underway to conclude an agreement that will provide the Swedish side with access to the necessary ammunition. According to the manufacturer Nammo, with factories in Sweden, ammunition delivery times are up to six years.
Investment in factories
Paul Johnson says it is important that Scandinavia's munitions factories increase their capacity.
“There is money for this within the EU. They are looking for EU funds, and then we are expected to make partial investments,” the minister said.
The Defense Materiel Directorate states that intensive work is underway to increase the production capacity and availability of artillery ammunition in Sweden and the Nordic countries.
Recall, as The Washington Post wrote in its report from the front, Ukrainian troops are already experiencing a shortage of ammunition at the front due to a reduction in military assistance from the United States, so are forced to cancel offensive operations.
