“Suicide Capsule”: First Man to Try Device for Death's Sake (Photo)

The creator of the invention was accused of "glamorization" suicide.

The “Suicide Capsule”, which promises to provide a painless death that can occur within 10 minutes of entry, should be used for the first time already next week.

LADbible writes about this.

Sarco is a 3D printed capsule called the “Tesla of Euthanasia”. And despite technological advances, the creators have been accused of “glamorizing” suicide, and they may face serious problems with the law.

Dr. Philipp Nitschke, nicknamed “Doctor Death”, reported that the first patient is using it in Switzerland. The 76-year-old physician also noted that the capsule can be towed anywhere in the world: “This could be, for example, an idyllic outdoor setting or inside an assisted suicide facility.”

Swiss media reported that the capsules were ready for use, but state prosecutor Peter Sticher warned that anyone who helped a patient use the capsules could face up to five years in prison.

According to Nitschke, founder of the euthanasia-supporting organization Exit International, which invented the invention, the Sarco capsule works by filling the chamber with nitrogen, reducing the oxygen level so quickly that the person is nearly unconscious. She feels it within the first minute, and after 10 minutes she has a “peaceful, safe, drug-free” death.

The Exit International team even made sure that the Sarco capsules can be activated using voice control and eye movement for those who experience very serious illnesses and mobility issues, meaning they cannot communicate voice.

The modules, which are activated by a button, blinking, or gesture, also have a panic button and escape route in case users change their minds.

The seemingly foolproof death machine has come under fire, as Sticher put it: “There is no reliable information about the method of killing. It is completely unclear who controls some mechanical process during the dying process.”

Swiss law and Article 115 of the Criminal Code indicate that individuals can contribute to the suicide of another person if the motive for this is not selfish.

Recall that recently a couple who had been happily married for almost 50 years, died together by euthanasia. The couple made the decision after they both developed terminal illnesses.
