Moscow. September 13. INTERFAX.RU – An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 was recorded in the Indian Ocean 88 km west of the city of Bukittingi on the western coast of Sumatra (Indonesia), reports the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to the data of operational processing of the Altai-Sayan branch of the Geophysical Service, the epicenter of the earthquake recorded at 12:02 Moscow time on Sunday was 31 km from the coast.
According to the intensity of shaking at the epicenter, the seismic event is assessed as “quite strong”.
