Strong earthquake struck off the coast of Japan
A 6.1 earthquake struck on the morning of May 16 near the east coast of the Japanese island of Hokkaido, according to the website of Japan's General Meteorological Agency.
The focus was located at a depth of 60 km. The underground vibrations did not lead to the tsunami, there are no reports of casualties and material damage.
It is noted that the earthquake was felt by the inhabitants of the southeast of Hokkaido.
Earlier in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Fiji, underground vibrations with a magnitude of 6.0 occurred. On the eve of an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5, it was noted near Easter Island.
