There is hope that such a decision will be made by Western partners in the near future.
During the NATO summit in Washington, the Ukrainian delegation insisted on lifting the ban on US strikes deep into Russian territory in order to hit Russian military airfields and bases from which they fire at Ukrainians.
As Deputy Head of the Office of the President Igor Zhovkva said in an interview with Voice of America, there is hope that such a decision will be made by Western partners in the near future.
“All the important decisions that the United States has made before have been done very quietly, and this time it will be the same,” he noted.
Po According to a representative of the Office of the President, there is an understanding between the leaders of the United States and Ukraine as to why Ukraine needs this permission.
“Everyone knows where the danger comes from: missiles are launched from specific places,” he noted.
Zhovkva is convinced that progress on this issue will definitely be achieved.
“As has been the case in the past on other issues we have discussed with the [US Presidential] administration,” the official added.
Let us recall that after a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Washington, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that our country, in order to protect itself from Russian aggression, has the right to use Western weapons to impress legitimate targets on the territory of the Russian Federation. President Zelensky then stated that Ukraine’s Western partners should lift any territorial restrictions on the use of long-range weapons.
