Olympic champion Klete Keller pleaded guilty to storming the US Capitol. He faces a prison sentence.
According to media reports, two-time Olympic swimming champion Klete Keller pleaded guilty to hindering the work of Congress on January 6th when the US Capitol was attacked. The 39-year-old said he had broken into the US Congress building in order to prevent the recognition of Joe Biden's election victory over Donald Trump in the duel for the US presidency. Keller is threatened with imprisonment and has already been sentenced to pay $ 2,000.
At the games in Athens in 2004 and in Beijing in 2008, among others, Keller was Olympic champion over 4 x 200 m crawl with superstar Michael Phelps. In Sydney 2000 as well as in Athens he also won bronze over the 400 m crawl.
