In Odessa, a 34-year-old man attempted to escape from a pre-trial detention center (pre-trial detention center). To detain the prisoner, the guard was forced to use firearms.
As the press service of the National Police of the Odessa region was informed, the incident took place at about seven o'clock in the morning.
It was at this time that a prisoner was seen running to the walls of the pre-trial detention center. The officer on duty reported the fugitive to the guard (employee of the internal service).
The guard warned the man about the use of firearms. At first he fired into the air, but this did not work on the fugitive. Then the guard fired a shot in the direction of the prisoner and wounded him in the leg.
The fugitive was called an ambulance and taken to the hospital.
It is known that a 34-year-old native of the Kharkov region tried to escape. He is in a pre-trial detention center on suspicion of committing a drug crime (according to part 3 of article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal production, manufacture, storage or sale of drugs).
Law enforcement officers have launched an investigation into the attempted escape from the pre-trial detention center (according to part 2 of article 15 and part 1 of article 393 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The fugitive now faces three to five years in prison.
In addition, an official investigation will be conducted and the actions of the guard will be assessed.
In September it was reported that they want to create a special prison in Ukraine, in which thieves in law (crime bosses) are isolated. The first such institutions may appear in Ukraine as early as next year.
