Stoltenberg announced NATO plans to put nuclear weapons on alert

< p>The Alliance Secretary General insists that the bloc must demonstrate its nuclear arsenal to the world and sharply warns about the threat from China.

NATO is negotiating to deploy more nuclear weapons in the face of growing threats from Russia and China.

The Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, spoke about this in an interview with The Telegraph.

According to Stoltenberg, NATO should demonstrate its nuclear arsenal around the world to send a direct signal to its enemies. He reported that direct consultations are continuing between members of the Alliance on removing missiles from storage and bringing them to combat readiness.

“I will not go into operational details about how many nuclear warheads should be operational and how many should be in storage, but we need to consult on these issues. That's what we are doing,” said the Secretary General of the Alliance.

He also noted that nuclear transparency should be a cornerstone of NATO's nuclear strategy.

“Of course, NATO's goal is a world without nuclear weapons, but as long as there are nuclear weapons, we will remain a nuclear alliance, because a world in which Russia, China and North Korea have nuclear weapons and NATO does not, is a more dangerous world,” Stoltenberg emphasized.

In addition, he issued a strong warning about the threat to China, saying that Beijing, in particular, is investing heavily in advanced weapons. In particular, we are talking about the nuclear arsenal of the PRC, which, according to the NATO Secretary General, will grow to 1000 warheads by 2030.

“And this means that in the near future NATO may be faced with something it has never faced before, namely two potential adversaries , possessing nuclear forces – China and Russia. Of course, this is fraught with consequences,” Stoltenberg warned.

By the way, earlier German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin could attack NATO in 2029.
