Salzburg celebrated their tenth victory 3-1 against Lask and set their own start record from 2018. Linz had started boldly, but opened up spaces for the champions – Nicolas Capaldo (19th), Maximilian Wöber (47th) and Karim Adeyemi (57th) used three of the chances. Christoph Monschein ran cosmetic results with his first ligator for Lask (92nd).

Salzburg extended their lead to ten points because their pursuers Sturm lost the Styrian derby 2: 3 in Hartberg. Goals from Jakob Jantscher (48th / penalty) and Anderson Niangbo (87th) were too few for the Graz team, because Matija Horvat (19th), Noel Niemann (21st) and Philipp Sturm (81st) scored for Hartberg.

With their 14th Bundesliga victory in a row across all seasons, Salzburg equaled Rapid's record from 1987. Ten victories at the start of a season have also only been achieved by Salzburg so far, namely in 2018. Young coach Matthias Jaissle is still unbeaten after 16 competitive games in office. The bulls won 15 of them. LASK, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat in the sixth game under neo-coach Andreas Wieland.

Plant runs despite failures

Salzburg had to do without captain Andreas Ulmer due to illness, the bow was worn by Rasmus Kristensen. In addition to Ulmer substitute Bernardo, who was replaced by Bundesliga debutant Kilian Ludewig after 27 minutes due to an injury, Capaldo and Benjamin Sesko also moved into the starting line-up compared to the 2-1 home win in the Champions League against Lille. At LASK, the three newcomers after the 1-1 draw against Maccabi Tel Aviv were Jan Boller, Florian Flecker and Husein Balic.

Linz started bravely in front of 12,093 spectators, sometimes pressing very high. Flecker fired the first warning shot after two minutes. Alexander Schmidt found the best opportunity. The striker headed to the top of the crossbar after a cross from James Holland (12th). Then Salzburg found their game. As soon as the Linzer's first pressing line was overcome, it became extremely dangerous.

The LASK defensive could not keep up with the speed of the cops on several occasions. About the 13th minute when Adeyemi escaped for the first time. The German national team striker served Sesko, who fogged free standing in the middle of the penalty area. Adeyemi himself pushed the ball inches past the right bar (15th), Brenden Aaronson failed to LASK keeper Alexander Schlager (16th).

The opening goal was looming, Capaldo got it after a pass from Aaronson with a deliberate shot from the edge of the penalty area. Salzburg has scored one goal in 42 Bundesliga home games in a row. Rapid's previous record from 1983-1986 was 41. Capaldo forced Schlager to defend his fist (36th), Adeyemi did not hit the ball optimally after Aaronson's cross and thus did not get it past the LASK keeper (40th). ).

Preliminary decision before the break whistle

The 2-0 came before the break: Wöber scored his first league goal in the Salzburg dress after a free-kick from Adeyemi headed by LASK defender Petar Filipovic. A slight uncertainty on the part of Philipp Köhn with a Balic shot had no consequences (45th + 1). After changing sides, the Salzburg goalkeeper steered a remarkable volley from Peter Michorl to the crossbar (78th).

At this point it was already 3-0. Adeyemi scored his eleventh competitive goal this season, his eighth in the league, after a cross from Kristensen, which was preceded by a nice combination with Sesko. Salzburg's victory could have been much higher. Junior Adamu missed a cross pass from Noah Okafor (70th), Schlager parried a Kristensen shot (72nd).

In the end, Salzburg hope Mamady Diambou (18) from Mali made her league debut. Aaronson and Kristensen (90th each) missed further chances, Monschein got the honorary goal after a strong assist from substitute Marko Raguz. That didn't change anything about LASK's ninth competitive defeat in a row against Salzburg. Most recently, the Linzers had succeeded in February 2020, before the Corona interruption of the league, with a 3-2 victory in Wals-Siezenheim.
