MOSCOW, April 15. / TASS /. The jubilee X action “Library Night-2021” will take place on April 24, the start of the events will be given in space for the first time. This was announced on Thursday by the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
Library Night 2021 is timed to coincide with the Year of Science and Technology and is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight. For the first time in its ten-year history, the start of the action will be given not only on Earth, but also in space. The event will begin with a greeting from the crew of the International Space Station, ”the press service said in a statement.
According to the Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, the action has become a spring tradition for the entire reading community of the country. Each year, it allows libraries to develop new activities, content and surprise visitors. The mission of the action is to popularize books and reading, disseminate knowledge, and develop an intellectual society.
Visitors to the Russian National Library will see the rarest books in foreign languages, published from 1776 to the present. The Russian State Library will host a fantastic performance uniting the sound and music collections of the RSL of the last 150 years. In the State Public Historical Library, you can see the works of the French illustrator Albert Robid and the first publications of Soviet science fiction novels, as well as take part in the Space Launches quest.
Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Oleshko will open the program at the Russian State Children's Library. He will read excerpts from “Dunno on the Moon” by Nikolai Nosov and “Girls from the Earth” by Kir Bulychev.
The Library of Foreign Literature has prepared an exposition of books on astronomy and astrology of the 15th-19th centuries.
