Space company SpaceX is scheduled to bring satellite internet around the world by September. This is reported by Reuters, citing SpaceX Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell.
The Starlink network is designed to provide Internet access by deploying a large number of vehicles weighing up to 500 kg in orbit.
As soon as 1.8 thousand satellites reach their orbits, the company will have a global coverage – this should happen around September 2021. However, SpaceX still needs to negotiate with local regulators and obtain permission to provide telecommunications services. Starlink is currently in beta in 11 countries.
In total, the company intends to launch more than 12 thousand satellites into orbit with a total value of more than $ 10 billion. In May 2021, SpaceX founder Elon Musk announced that the company had already received over 500 thousand pre-orders for Starlink services.
