The Russian vaccine against the Sputnik V coronavirus will begin to be produced from July 2021 in northern Italy, at the plant of the Swiss-Italian company Adienne Pharma & Biotech. Repubblica reported.
Production will take place in Caponago, in Lombardy, an area where the coronavirus pandemic has taken a heavy toll. It is also known that the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce has already signed a corresponding agreement. According to plans, by the end of this year it will be possible to produce up to 10 million finished doses of the drug.
The plans of Italian production were announced a day earlier at the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) the day before, and for the first time a proposal to the Italian authorities was made on March 5.
Sputnik V became the world's first registered vaccine based on the human adenovirus. Currently, the development of Russian scientists is among the ten best vaccine candidates in the list of the World Health Organization (WHO).
