Speaker Johnson calls for immediate dismissal of Markarova as ambassador to the US

A representative of the Republican Party was outraged by Zelensky's visit to a weapons factory in Pennsylvania.

The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson, believes that the Ukrainian Ambassador to Washington Oksana Markarova organized President Zelensky's visit to a weapons factory in Pennsylvania, to help Democrats in their election campaign. Therefore, he demands that the Ukrainian president immediately dismiss her from office.

He wrote about this in an open letter to Volodymyr Zelensky, published on September 25 on the X platform.

In this letter, Johnson recalled President Zelensky's assurances that Kiev does not interfere in the domestic politics of the United States and does not influence the opinion of Americans before the presidential elections.

However, according to him, during Zelensky's visit to the weapons factory in the “shaky” state of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Governor from the Democratic Party Josh Shapiro was present, and the Republicans were not there because they “were not specifically invited.”

“Obviously, this week about this goal [not to interfere in the elections] forgot when Ambassador Markarov organized an event during which you visited an American arms manufacturer,” Johnson reproached.

The Speaker of the US House of Representatives calls this visit “part of a political campaign to help the Democrats.”

Johnson said that the Republican Party has lost confidence in “Markarov's ability to fairly and effectively do diplomatic work” in the United States.

Recall that earlier, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson expressed doubts about his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on September 26 during his visit to Washington. Earlier, it became known that US presidential candidate Donald Trump does not plan to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week. His team stressed that no meetings had been planned.
