Spain would like to discuss with the Russian Federation the exclusion of jamon from sanctioned products

Spain is ready to discuss with Russia at the expert level the issue of the possibility of excluding jamon from the list of sanctioned products, RIA Novosti reports, referring to the adviser on agriculture of the Spanish Embassy in the Russian Federation, Carlos Larranagu.

He noted that the Russian market has always been one of the target markets for Spanish products, so the embargo caused a lot of harm to the country, and jamon was among the most affected products.

“We are negotiating at the expert level regarding the import and export of products, but at the political level, these topics are touched upon at the level of the European Union,” the diplomat said.

He stressed that Spain would like to remove restrictions, but now this is impossible due to the lack of agreements at the highest level.

Earlier it was reported that the Italian Ambassador to Moscow, Pasquale Terracciano, considers it a mistake to include Parmesan in the list of fresh products that have come under counter-sanctions.

Recall that in 2014 the Russian Federation banned the import of certain types of products from countries that introduced anti-Russian sanctions.
