The Spanish government has considered sending defense materials to Ukraine to protect the civilian population. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Foreign Minister of the kingdom Jose Manuel Albarez.

According to the diplomat, the Spanish authorities intend to send humanitarian aid to Ukraine through Poland. He also said he spoke with Spanish Defense Minister Margherita Robles to explore the possibility of sending defense materials to Ukraine.

“Defensive materials range from bulletproof vests and helmets for the protection of civilians to, for example, mine-clearing materials,” Albarez explained.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the country would offer Ukraine financial assistance in the amount of 300 million euros and military equipment. Moldova declared its readiness to accept several tens of thousands of refugees. President Maia Sandu said that there is an increased flow of people on the border with Ukraine.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass. The head of state also turned to external forces that might try to pose a threat to Russia – according to him, the answer will be immediate.
