The SpaceX company of inventor and billionaire Elon Musk plans to provide wireless Internet to the whole world by September 2021 using the Starlink satellite system. On Tuesday, June 22, Reuters reported with reference to the president of the aerospace corporation Gwynne Shotwell.
“We have successfully deployed about 1,800 satellites, and once they reach operational orbit, we have global internet coverage, but then we need to get regulatory approvals,” she said at a Macquarie Group technology web conference.
SpaceX plans to launch about 12 thousand satellites, the cost of which is equal to $ 10 billion. A month earlier, Elon Musk said that the company had received more than 500 thousand orders to connect to the Internet.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved SpaceX's plans to launch some Starlink satellites into lower Earth orbit. By design, they will provide people with high-speed broadband Internet that do not have access to it.
