Space control: Russia will increase the orbital constellation of satellites
Russia is planning to create a system for geotechnical monitoring of hazardous production facilities. Control will be carried out from space. The corresponding satellite constellation appears. Now Russia receives data from foreign operators, which means it is dependent, the MIR 24 TV channel reports.
The topic was discussed today at a meeting in Shchelkovo near Moscow, where the headquarters of Russia's leading satellite operator Gazprom Space Systems is located. Among other things, the journalists were able to see the antenna field. Giant dishes control the operation of five satellites of the Yamal constellation, which provides space communications, the Internet and a television signal for two Russian multiplexes. The satellites are monitored from the mission control center. Soon, the orbital group will be replenished with domestic devices for monitoring hazardous industrial facilities.

“These satellites are currently available to foreign countries, which, of course, hinders Russia in solving such important tasks as determining fire hazards, monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, laying optimal routes along the Northern Sea Route, identifying hazardous areas at production facilities,” said the chief engineer, deputy general director of JSC Gazprom Space Systems Yuri Banit.
Remote sensing satellites will be assembled there, in Shchelkovo. Spacecraft production will be launched in 2022.
