Artificial leather has been created that can change color depending on the environment. South Korean scientists presented their development, FAN reports.

As noted, the novelty is a flexible display capable of changing the hue from temperature. The material also has several layers with heating elements, while the thickness of the coating is less than human hair.

To demonstrate the development, Seoul National University staff assembled a robot shaped like a chameleon. He was covered with material and launched. Special sensors, while the car was moving, read the shade of the surface, transmitting the information to the microprocessor. After that, the liquid crystals were heated, and the skin changed its color.

According to scientists, their development will be useful in the army, in the field of fashion, art and architecture.

Earlier it was reported that specialists from Finland have invented a method for growing skin from mushrooms. They use mycelium fibers to create an environmentally friendly material.
