The country is alarmed by the potential cooperation between the Russian Federation and North Korea.
So, Seoul may introduce unilateral sanctions against Moscow against the backdrop of the recent summit between North Korea and Russia. It has raised concerns about military cooperation between the two countries.
This is reported by Yonhap.
“North Korea reaching any arms-related agreement with Russia through the summit would be an extremely serious threat security and peace on the Korean Peninsula,” Foreign Minister Park Jin said.
The diplomat asked whether there was a possibility of unilateral sanctions against North Korea and Russia. According to him, “all possible measures are being considered.”
It should be noted that South Korea has often imposed unilateral sanctions against North Korea for illegal nuclear, missile and cyber activities. At the same time, it was only involved in international sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
Park added that military cooperation, including arms trade, between North Korea and Russia is a violation of UN Security Council resolutions against Pyongyang.
“The government is issuing a stern warning and calling not to allow such actions,” the diplomat said.
Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un met in the Far East RF to hold negotiations.
