Director Joel Sousa, who was accidentally injured by Alec Baldwin while filming the western “Rust”, is in critical condition. This is reported by the Hollywood Reporter magazine.
The incident happened during the shooting of the scene. The actor fired a pistol that had to be loaded with blank cartridges.
However, at the time of the shot, a bullet or shrapnel hit two people nearby. They were director Joel Sousa and 42-year-old cameraman Alina Hutchins. Sousa's collarbone was injured, and Hutchins was taken in critical condition by ambulance to the hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
Later, during the investigation, a spokesman for the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office, Juan Rios, said that the gunman was Baldwin himself. Santa Fe New Mexican captured the actor after being interrogated at the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office.
No charges have been filed against the actor yet. Baldwin himself and the other actors were not harmed as a result of the incident. Filming is temporarily suspended.

According to RIA Novosti, the deceased operator Hutchins is from Ukraine. She graduated from the Department of International Journalism at Kiev University, after which she worked with British documentary filmmakers as an investigative journalist.
