Slovakia's counterintelligence chief detained on suspicion of corruption
The police have detained the head of the Slovak Information Service (SIS) Vladimir Pcholinsky on suspicion of corruption, reports Denník N.
Plochinsky became the head of Slovak counterintelligence in early 2020, after the parliamentary elections and the coming to power of Prime Minister Igor Matovic. The detained head of the information service is a nominee of the We are the Family party, which is part of the country's government coalition.
At the end of last year, one of Plochinsky's deputies was detained in Slovakia. He is accused of blackmail and disclosure of classified information.
Earlier, a Paris court found former President Nicolas Sarkozy guilty of corruption. He became the first former president in French history to receive a real prison sentence.
