Slovakia to join China-Brazil 'peace initiative': Fico makes statement on war in Ukraine

Slovakia intends to join the Friends of Peace group created by China and Brazil at the UN level.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, after a meeting in Beijing with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Friday, November 1, said that his the country is ready to join the Chinese-Brazilian “peace initiative” to end the war in Ukraine.

TASR writes about this.

Fico noted that China is rightly concerned about the escalation of the war in Ukraine getting out of control and the risk of a nuclear conflict.

“We share the same opinion about the impossibility of an immediate end to hostilities while Ukraine continues to receive military and financial assistance from the West. As Prime Minister, I support all peacekeeping plans for Ukraine, regardless of who their authors are,” Fico emphasized.

He added that the “peace plan” of China and Brazil can play an important role in ensuring peace in Ukraine. According to Fico, the discussion of this plan will be one of the main topics during his visit to Brazil in December this year.

Fico said that Slovakia intends to join the “Friends of Peace” group created by China and Brazil at the UN level to find ways to peacefully resolve the war in Ukraine.

Recall that Fico cynically declared “fatigue” with the war in Ukraine in an interview with propagandist Skabeeva. They say that “in April 2022, real agreements were on the table that could immediately end the war.”
