Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Slovakia Richard Sulik claims that the Freedom and Solidarity Party (SAS), to which he belongs, condemns the temporary occupation of the Crimean peninsula by Russia.
He called his words that “Russia will not return Crimea to Ukraine” a “personal opinion.”

The Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia reiterated that some of his country’s exporters had suffered from sanctions against Russia, and his words were allegedly connected with this.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Geger, in a comment to a local newspaper, stressed that the government of this country “does not intend to take any actions” to recognize the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula as part of neighboring Russia.
– During the reign of Robert Fico, the Slovak Republic joined the states that condemned the annexation of Crimea and imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation. This is the official foreign policy line of the Slovak Republic, in which nothing has changed. It is mandatory for all members of the government,” the Slovak Prime Minister stressed.
He added that he expects an assessment of the situation with Richard Sulik and his words about Crimea by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to these statements. They called them unacceptable and demanded a public refutation from Sulik.
