Slovakia has expressed its readiness to accept some children for treatment accompanied by their parents.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico held his first government meeting on Tuesday, July 9, since the assassination attempt in mid-May. He also spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart Denis Shmyhal.

According to Shmyhal, he informed his Slovak counterpart about the large-scale Russian attack on civilian infrastructure and the destruction of Okhmatdet.

“Robert Fico condemned this attack. Slovakia expressed its readiness to accept some children for treatment, including those with oncological diseases, accompanied by their parents,” the press service of the Ukrainian Prime Minister said in a statement.

In addition, Shmyhal thanked Slovakia for its participation in the Peace Summit, support on the path to European integration, in particular support for the EU decision to open negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the EU.

“We discussed the implementation of the agreements reached during intergovernmental consultations in April of this year. There is significant progress in this direction. We agreed to hold the third joint meeting of governments in the fall in Ukraine,” the head of the Cabinet added.

Recall that as of 17:00 on Tuesday, 33 people were killed in a missile strike by Russian occupiers in Kiev. In particular, 2 adults were killed in the Okhmatdet hospital.

Also, as a result of repeated shelling, a building in the Dniprovskyi district, where two clinics are located – Adonis and Isida – was damaged. Seven people are known to have died there.
