The last "victim" The head of the Spanish Foreign Ministry was an ambassador who took an unplanned siesta during the minister's lengthy speech.
The head of the Spanish Foreign Ministry, Jose Manuel Albarez, fired the Spanish Ambassador to Belgium, Alberto Anton, because he dozed off at the annual diplomatic conference in Madrid during the minister's speech, which lasted an entire hour.
This was reported by the Spanish publication igeteo.MX.
The incident occurred in January of this year. The sleeping ambassador was captured on camera by cameramen who were videotaping the event, after which short videos of a yawning and sleeping Alberto Anton were published on social networks.
The reaction of the Foreign Minister to the unplanned siesta of an employee of his department is only the latest step in his “crusade” against his colleagues, journalists note. Albarez is called “mini Napoleon” behind his back and accused of creating an “atmosphere of terror” in the ministry. It is known that he recently fired seven high-ranking diplomats, allegedly “for personal insults.”
“He remembers events that happened 15 or 20 years ago: someone did not greet him when he entered the office, someone showed up for work inappropriately or said an inappropriate phrase. He saves everything and ends up punishing you. It seems that now he is trying to remember the grievances of his entire career,” the diplomat, who wished to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation from the minister, told the publication.
Another diplomat, also on condition of anonymity, told reporters that Albarez keeps a “blacklist” of all the officials he “has a grudge against.”
“We call it the diary of Monte Cristo, and revenge “he is attacking all the names he wrote down,” the source said.
Albarez is also a socialist and seems to be ready to fight the monarchy “in his own way.”
“Spanish Ambassador to Croatia Juan González-Barba also became the victim of another fury of the socialist minister after the publication of an article in defense of the Spanish King Philip VI in the newspaper El Confidencial,” the publication notes.
It is also known that when Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain died, Albarez forbade Spanish diplomats in London from commenting on the death of the monarch. Earlier, he reprimanded the head of the Cervantes Institute in London for comments about the late queen in the Spanish media.
Recall that the prosecutors who led the criminal cases against Trump lost their jobs. The administration of the new US President Donald Trump believes that the prosecutors who brought charges against him “cannot be trusted.”
